Former
governor of Lagos state and national leader of the All Progressives
Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has said only people that are
crazy will say he was not with President Muhammadu Buhari in London.
In a statement on Monday, Tinubu, a former
Governor of Lagos State, said mischief makers were behind the news that
he did not visit the President.
The statement, signed by his spokesperson, Tunde
Rahman, said Tinubu was in London with the former Interim National
Chairman of the APC, Chief Bisi Akande, to visit Buhari and that they
met the President at the Abuja House.
The statement reads:
“The report about the so-called denial of the visit is the handiwork of mischief- makers.
I felt we should not dignify that with a response. That report beggars belief.
“Asiwaju Tinubu and Baba Akande were in London. The reason they travelled to the United Kingdom was to see President Buhari.
“And they visited him last Thursday and held discussions with him at the Abuja House in London.
“After the visit, the President, as a mark of respect, saw off his guests to the door.
“Pictures were taken during and after the visit and released to the media by The Presidency.“These pictures were international headlines.
How can anybody in his or her right senses be saying there was no such
visit? It’s simply crazy!”
In a similar vein, Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun state, has affirmed that he visited President Muhammadu Buhari in London.
The President is said to be in London, receiving treatment for an undisclosed ailment.
There have been controversy over a picture showing
Amosun and the president in the United Kingdom, amid allegations an old
image was edited to make it look recent.
However, on Monday at an event at the Olusegun
Obasanjo Presidential Library, Abeokuta, Amosun told journalists that he

The acting
Director-General, Nigerian Agency for Food and Drug Administration and control
(NAFDAC), Mrs Oluremi Oni on Wednesday advised exporters of food products to
ensure proper certification to avoid rejection in global market.
Oni spoke to
our correspondent on the sideline of the maiden edition of the Nigeria food
safety and investment forum.

her, adequate effort had been put in place by relevant government agencies to

She said:

ministry of agric there, you wonder while agric is there, you wonder why the
are there; science and technology is there, because they are going to give us
the technology and the equipments to use.
“Why is
health there; food and health go together; there is also trade and investment
“All of us
are now collaborating, working together, because it’s a value chain from the
farm; beyond the table because you are going to export.
“And so if
you are going to export, you need to carry NAFDAC along.
“We analyse
your products in the lab and ensure it’s of the right quality and issue you
appropriate certificate to that effect.
“The
Ministry of Agriculture also has its own arm of quarantine that also does that
and issues a certificate.
“What you
find out is that those products that have those two certificates don’t get
rejected.
“The ones
that are rejected are the ones that are smuggled and never pass through NAFDAC.
“So there is
need for sensitization and awareness amongst all of us and Nigeria will be a
better place for us.”
